Jason Momoa: Terrified (But Proud) to Direct His Son in ‘Dune 3’

So, it turns out even *Aquaman* has parental anxieties! Jason Momoa is gearing up for the release of *Dune: Part Three*, which promises a return to Arrakis and – get this – his son Nakoa-Wolf joining the cast as young Leto II Atreides.

While most dads would be doing a victory dance, Momoa admits working with his kid was «absolutely terrifying.» Apparently, he’d actively discouraged his son from pursuing acting (“I didn’t want him to get into acting… not going to be in this industry!”) but Nakoa-Wolf proved him wrong. The teen landed the role through a legit audition process after initially just wanting to observe his dad on set.

Momoa, ever the concerned parent, was apparently worried about his son’s well-being and performance. Thankfully, Nakoa-Wolf “killed it,” according to proud papa. (Who knew martial arts training could come in handy on a sci-fi epic?)

The third installment wraps up Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy based on Frank Herbert’s novels. Filming concluded last year, with the cast celebrating their accomplishment. Momoa even had to sacrifice his beloved beard for the role!

*Dune: Part Three* hits theaters December 18th. You can prepare by re-watching *Part One* and *Two*, or diving into the spinoff series *Dune: Prophecy*. Just don’t expect Jason Momoa to be any less stressed about his son’s career success!

In short: Jason Momoa was a nervous wreck directing his son in Dune 3, but ultimately very proud of the young actor.
